ABOUT>

Connie grew up in the heart of the Piney Woods of East Texas in the city of Lufkin. She is the youngest of 5 siblings, one sister and three brothers. Her mother is Hispanic and grew up in
Stockdale Texas. Her Father grew up in Lufkin and has a deep love for bluegrass music.

At an early age Connie became fascinated with music.
Because of Her dad s love for bluegrass, this was the style she was introduced to first. Her parents and brothers brought a lot of different styles of music into the home. "I can remember sitting on my parents bed and listening to just about every record in the house on a small record player" recalls Connie. "Every Saturday morning my Mother would listen to a Spanish radio station, and for 3 hours during the week she would listen to southern gospel music radio show" Connie says. In addition to music in her home, school was also a place where she would hear an even wider scale of music. She was exposed to classical music, jazz, big band and so much more. She has participated in music all her life. From playing the trumpet in jr. high and high school band and high school jazz band, to singing and playing the bass in her family s bluegrass gospel band as well as a few southern gospel bands. In 1990 she began singing in a ladies trio called "Traditions" until she moved to Nashville Tennessee in March of 1991.

The Refining Process

Moving to Nashville was a scary thing for Connie. At the age of 25 she moved from Texas to Tennessee without family, friends or a job. This was part of a dream come true for her. Nashville was the place where you must go in order to have a career in music and this was something she had dreamed of doing all her life. Once she got there, she had her own plans of what she wanted to do and how she wanted to do it. However God had other plans for her life. Little by little through godly bible teaching at the church she was attending, God began a deep process of refining and changing her heart. "God s refining process isn t always a pleasant thing" says Connie "but He does promise to bring us through the fire and into refinement".

Zechariah 13:9 tells us "The Lord promises to bring His
people through the fire and to refine them as silver is refined, and
test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will
answer them; I will say, they are my people and they will say The Lord
is my God."

In Kay Arthur s book "As Silver Refined" she explains how the silversmith takes a lump of ore and put s it through the process of refinement. Every time he places the ore into the fire, impurities
begin to rise up within the ore. He does this until all he sees is a beautiful piece of silver that he can look into and see his reflection in.

This is the same thing that God does to us. One of the ways God was refining Connie was by taking away something she had dreamed of doing all her life. He took away her music. "All I ve ever wanted to do was sing and write. I wanted to do that more than anything in my life," says Connie. Music was such an important thing to her. It was so important that it became an idol. An idol that God had to remove and He did. "Things were not happening the way I had hoped they would" recalls Connie "those were very disappointing times for me". But this is what happens when we put our dreams or a person before God, there will always be disappointments. This is why God tells us not to have any other gods before Him. He alone deserves to be first in our lives.

Surrendering The Dream

As God continued to work on her heart through the years, Connie came to a place of surrendering to Him her dreams and desires in music. Shortly after that decision, her Pastor s wife (women s conference speaker Susan Henson) approached her and asked her to sing and lead the music at a revival/conference in Michigan.
Through that open door God has allowed Connie the privilege of traveling over the last six years with a team of dedicated women presenting God s message of hope and His healing to thousands of women in the United States. Connie testifies having witnessed many changed lives because of the grace of God and it is her desire to continue sharing that same message by using the talents He has given her and by sharing the life experiences that He has allowed her to go through for His glory.

Life Changing Experiences

One of those life experiences happened on April 12th 2000 when her only sister died of a massive brain aneurysm. This tragedy changed her heart and life forever. In conferences and concerts she
shares about the deep pain of losing her beloved sister and the healing touch of a loving Savior. "So many come up to me after concerts and conferences and share how they ve gone or are going through a similar circumstance. It s awesome and beautiful to see How God takes our hurts and uses them to encourage others and lead them to Him". This is what we re encouraged to do.

2 Corinthians 1:3,4

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the Godof all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

The Body Of Christ

Connie also has a heart for the body of Christ. "I believe it s time for every believer to draw a circle around his/her heart and say God let revival start in me" says Connie. Now is the time
to seek Him and know Him in the deepest and most intimate way.

Jeremiah 19:13

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all
of your heart."

The World For Christ

Connie also desires for others to come to know Christ as their personal Savior.

Romans 10:9,10

"That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and
believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be
saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

In her concerts you will find humor as she shares of her childhood and just everyday life, but you will also see a serious side to Connie as well. It mixes so well together as she

ministers to others about all that God has brought her through.
